Festive Check List
When guests have booked for a festive event, you can pretty much guarantee they will be cooking at some point during their stay. After all that's one of the reasons people choose vacation rentals over hotels. So, delivering them a great kitchen and dining experience will be remembered long after the festivities are over. You are aiming for the review that says, 'The owners thought of everything -- the place was better equipped than my own house!'
Here's part of the list I used to equip Kingfisher Cottage earlier this year:
- Roasting Pan (large enough to cater for your maximum occupancy)
- Smaller roaster for potatoes and vegetables
- Additional pots and pans with appropriate lids
- Steamer (or steamer insert)
- Large serving plates (for turkey or large roasts)
- Serving dishes & bowls
- Gravy jug and sauce boat
- Serving spoons
- Sharp knives including carving knife and paring knife
- Two large serving forks
- Wooden spoons
- Good potato peeler
- Cheese grater and lemon zester
- Measuring spoons and cups
- Festive table linens
Make sure your herb and spice jars are all filled up, there is a salt and pepper grinder and some complimentary provisions people may forget. You could supply some oil, vinegar, flour, sugar etc. If in doubt as to what to provide, take a few moments to think about what you would need if you were rental guests in the property. One more tip -- send a list of what you have to your guests prior to their trip so they know what is provided and what to bring with them and include a list of the small appliances at the property.
